tournaments

Micah and Tov Fisher-Kirshner blitz it out for the first place trophy after tying in the 1994 Young People“s Tournament. Under the old rules of the tournament before 1994 Tov would have won on tie-breaks. Under the new rules a biltz match would break any ties. Micah won. Many years later they still played each other for that same trophy. :0)

Chess is Forever!

PHOTOGRAPHS AND RESULTS: To view and download photographs of some recent scholastic tournaments.
NON-SCHOLASTIC EVENTS:   I do not list non-scholastic events or combined adult scholastic events. Click on the link that heads this comment for a list of adult/open tournaments
OTHER SCHOLASTIC EVENTS: The ones I list are those I recommend and are in the greater Bay Area (yes, that includes Stockton and Sacramento in my world :0).  As you may note, I am no longer recommending Bay Area Chess events.

Chess can be a bit frightening at times.
All photographs on this page by Alan.

Children of all ages play chess in CalNorth.

Chess pieces can be used for many things during tournaments.

Chess during tournaments entails much thought.
