TOURNAMENTS

2016: The Weibel Team won the Under 10 All-Girls Nationals. This means that since 2010 Weibel Teams have won a major U.S. national chess championship.

2015: For the third year the Weibel Team won the Under 12 Team All-Girls Nationals. This year Weibel also sent Teams in the Under 8, Under 10 and Under 14 sections. Actually the Under 14 were from Horner, but they all wore their Weibel T-Shirts. I am happy to report that all the Teams place in the Top 5 with our Under 8 group taking a second.

2014: Weibel girls for the second straight year prove themselves the best in the nation in the Under 12 category. They clinched the title even before the last round started.

2013: Weibel girls become National Champions for the third time winning the Under 12 section of the All-Girls Nationals in Chicago. NEWS ARTICLE

From left to right: Micah Fisher-Kirshner, Jennifer Cheung, Alan Kirshner, Ratham Kumarappan, Tov Fisher-Kirshner. Ratham died tragically in a car accident that summer. The Weibel Team took fourth place and in 1990 they won the first of many Team Championships. Presently Jennifer, her husband and two children live across the street from Micah, his wife and their two children in the Glenmor district of Fremont.  Tov and his wife live in Japan.
2010: Weibel shines at the Elementary School Nationals. Weibel ties for first place in the K-3 Open Division becoming the first Team from the North CalChess State to become National Primary School Champions. Weibel also finished third in the K-6 Elementary School Championships.
